Women’s Center for Bladder & Pelvic Health

At some point in their lives, more than a third of women experience incontinence, prolapse of a pelvic organ or another pelvic floor problem. Despite the discomfort and impact on daily life that these conditions often bring, many women never seek treatment. They may feel awkward about discussing the problem or simply not realize that these issues are both common and correctable.

At the UCSF Women’s Center for Bladder & Pelvic Health, we're passionate about helping women get the care they need. We provide comprehensive, personalized care for women, by women. With specialty training in female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgery, our urologists treat a broad range of pelvic floor conditions, including urinary incontinence, overactive bladder, pelvic organ prolapse, urinary fistulas, vesicovaginal fistulas, neurogenic bladder, fecal incontinence and surgical mesh complications.

We realize that many women find it difficult to talk about these issues, so we strive to provide an environment that feels safe and comfortable. We listen closely to our patients and take a collaborative approach, ensuring that we develop treatment plans that meet individual needs and goals.

Our areas of expertise include specialized bladder testing (urodynamics), complex pelvic reconstructive surgery and minimally invasive surgery. For many conditions, we offer both surgical and nonsurgical options, with many tests and treatments performed right in our office, in a state-of-the-art procedure suite. Additionally, we can provide treatment options that aren’t widely available, such as non-mesh surgery for stress urinary incontinence and uterine-sparing approaches to surgical repair for pelvic organ prolapse.
